CrossFit Defined’s 4th In-House Powerlifting Meet

What is Powerlifting? Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts to achieve your best lift on three movements: squat, bench press, and deadlift (done in that order).

Who? All gym members are encouraged to participate. This event is geared towards everyone. There are no prerequisites based on experience or strength levels in order to compete The only requirements are being able to consistently work hard and the willingness to put yourself in a new situation.

When and Where? Saturday, November 18th, 2017 at CFD Lincoln Square. Register here.

Why? We host these in-house events to show our CFD athletes a deeper side of the sport of “Powerlifting”. It’s a sport open to all ages, strength levels and abilities. For the new lifter, this is an opportunity to build strength and try something new. For the seasoned lifter, this is an opportunity to build strength and improve technique. Either way, it’s a win-win scenario. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Cost? $45 per athlete. Registration includes a limited-edition Powerlifting t-shirt that no one in the world will have except for the 32 lifters in the meet. We will have a photographer on staff so everyone will receive some sweet photos. You will also hit some huge, new PRs (personal records) – and you can’t put a price on that. Register here.

What happens at the In-House Powerlifting Meet? Each athlete takes three attempts in the squat, bench and deadlift to achieve their best total on the day of the meet. There will be 3 judges for every lift to ensure that all movement standards are met. There is a dedicated warm-up area that lifters will use prior to their competition lifts and a competition platform where all the magic happens.

Prior to the meet Coach David will release a private program for all competitors to follow which will have an emphasis on the powerlifting movements (Squat, Bench, Deadlift) preparing you to crush new 1 Rep Max attempts on the day of the meet. The 3-day per week program (with an optional 4th day on Sat @ 9a) will be able to be used in combination with the daily gym programming. Regardless of your current numbers and experience, this is a great opportunity to see what you can do. You will be able to do this program anytime the gym is open. There is dedicated space / equipment for all lifters during regular class programming. This event will have a similar format as a sanctioned powerlifting meet. The rest of the rules and format of the event will be discussed with the lifters throughout the training process.

Please contact Coach David at with registration, lifting, training and meet questions. To join the Powerlifting Team forum (Strength Cafe) please go HERE. This is how the program will be released along with all lifting details and training notes. We are a group of incredibly positive lifters that are endlessly dedicated to improving.

“Don’t let strength be a weakness.”
